Gold cyanidation

Gold cyanidation (also known as the cyanide process or the MacArthur Forrest process) is a hydrometallurgical technique for extracting gold from low grade ore by converting the gold to a water soluble coordination complex.

Pachuca aeration gave better gold extraction and lower cyanide consumption than bottle agitation. With the former more copper was found in solution, and less thiocyanate was formed; with bottle agitation the reverse was the case, in addition to which copper cyanogen complexes were found in the filter cake.
